Hallie Dufresne is a costume designer and artisan who has spent decades honing her craft. She specializes in millinery and textile arts with a BFA in Costume Design and Technology from Florida State University. Hallie has a balance of creative artistry mixed with administrative level management experience and she has run costume studios and fostered artisans with all levels of experience throughout her career. Her work has been seen onstage from Los Angeles to New York and throughout Europe. Highlights include building the highly stylized masks and headpieces for Achim Freyer’s acclaimed Los Angeles Opera Ring Cycle, creating the hats and textile painting for the Los Angeles Opera 2016 production of The Ghosts of Versailles designed by Lindo Cho and her operatic costume design debut for Palm Beach Opera's 2018 production of Candide starring Denyce Graves. She currently lives in a house that is over a century old in the urban core of Jacksonville, FL where she designs and makes hats using time honoured techniques on a little sewing machine that is older than her home.
